Overview

LSAC’s mission is to advance law and justice by promoting access, equity, and fairness in law school admission and supporting the learning journey from prelaw through practice. 

 

Pay rate: $170,000 to $185,000 per year, depending on experience

 

The Director of Candidate Engagement is the leader of one of LSAC’s critical domains and product verticals. The position oversees multiple products, processes, sites and media content to facilitate successful support of the law school candidate journey through the application process and matriculation. The position collaborates with multiple departments at LSAC to ensure a cohesive and well-integrated customer experience. The Director leads a product management team and functions by providing overall product vision, product and market strategies, and team leadership. The position is responsible for working with organizational leadership and stakeholders to formulate and maintain a strategy and plan to support the operations and product development supporting law school candidates. The Director works with product management team members to create and maintain roadmap towards achieving the operations and product vision.

 

This position also provides coaching and mentorship to the product management team members and is responsible for furnishing them with resources, tools, and processes to do their respective jobs. The Director creates and manages the overall product management process that supports an agile product development environment, promotes a value-based prioritization methodology, and oversees its effective execution.

 

The Director engages with constituents such as law schools, educational technology companies and other organizations serving law school education to gain firsthand insight and market feedback on LSAC’s offerings. The position builds a clear understanding among the team of the current and future market direction, needs, and potential acceptance. The position ensures that the team has relevant product research, competitive intelligence, and various market analyses, and contributes to financial modeling including investment, pricing strategy, and ROI. The Director promotes LSAC’s offerings internally and externally by advocating for its value and benefits at executive briefings, marketing events, and consumer platforms.

  • Oversee LSAC’s engagement with candidates through the application process and law school.
  • A deep knowledge of legal education and admissions. Build products and oversee operations to support candidates through this process
  • Oversee website and product development, including multiple media channels.
  • Speak publicly and present on trends in the industry
  • Provide vision and direction to the product development team and stakeholders throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders across the organization to establish short- and long-term goals based on appropriate data.
  • Work closely with the leadership team to ensure objectives are aligned with enterprise objectives.
  • Coordinate efforts starting with initiative launch through product delivery.
  • Contribute to the creation of new business models and commercialization plans to increase LSAC’s offerings while staying aligned with our corporate mission.
  • Evolve proof of concepts and ideas into revenue generating businesses.
  • Understand short term and long-term industry direction and transfer the knowledge throughout the team.
  • Keep other business verticals and executive team informed so they can support the team and align enterprise activities.
  • Provide thought leadership in technology and education.
  • Works with initiative owners to identify key stakeholders
  • Collaborate with internal enterprise services to align strategic and operational needs.
  • Coordinate business unit activities and foster an agile mindset to ensure the team has what they need through effective servant leadership.
  • Remain educated on innovative and relevant technologies.

Education and Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 10 years of product and business development experience.
  • Proven record of growing businesses and innovation leveraging cutting edge technology.
  • Proven background of growing and managing relationships with outside organizations.
  • Provide experience working in an agile culture.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software; Word, Excel, PowerPoint.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities

This role does have people management responsibilities.

Position Type

This is a full-time, exempt position. The LSAC standard business hours are Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 4:45 p.m. ET. While these are the standard office hours for LSAC, as an exempt employee, the employee will be expected to work the hours necessary to satisfactorily complete their assignments in a responsible and professional manner.

Work Environment

This job operates in a remote and professional office environment. Whether remote or in-office, this role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines, and collaboration tooling.
